Vanguard Collegiate of Indianapolis

Vanguard Collegiate of Indianapolis is a free, public charter middle school located on the Near Westside of Indianapolis, in the Haughville Neighborhood. Vanguard Collegiate will equip scholars with the critical thinking skills, integrity, and sense of social and personal responsibility necessary to seize the educational opportunities afforded them, thus, bringing their dreams and those of their families to fruition.

Indiana State Museum and Historic sites

Take a journey through Indiana’s history, from the age of mastodons and mammoths to 21st century science, art and culture. Families can enjoy hands-on science in our Naturalist’s Lab, wind their way through cave replicas in “Frozen Reign,” learn real stories about historic Hoosiers in our cultural galleries, and more. The museum features two floors of permanent experiences and one floor of changing galleries. The Indiana State Museum is part of the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites, a statewide museum system with 12 locations

Neighborhoods and Development

Near East Side Quality of Life Plan

The Quality of Life Plan is a neighbor-lead initiative that outlines assets and opportunities for growth in the Near Eastside. Summits to discuss progress of the plan are held quarterly and regular updates are provided on the Quality of Life Facebook page, such as project photos, neighborhood stories, events, and celebrations.

Lawrence Community Gardens is growing organic produce on 4 acres to provide our community with equal access to fresh nutrient dense foods. Food equality and providing innovative solutions to the food desert situation on the far eastside are our top priority.

The Elephant Gardens

The Elephant Gardens LLC, is an Urban Garden/farm located at 3348 N. Sherman Dr., Indpls. IN 46218, in the heart of one of Indianapolis’ many food deserts. We are local growers of what we call “JNS” or Just Natural Stuff, meaning we use no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, no gmo seeds and we do not irradiate our produce. We are comitted to providing healthy food options to our community thus fostering a healthy lifestyle in general for our community.
